Texas Wants to Send Immigrants to DC

Since Joe Biden was sworn into the office as POTUS a year and a half ago, there have been an estimated 2 million undocumented people who have crossed America's southern border. This includes a wide range of men, women, children, all blended up into an indiscernible ball of people who truly do want a better life, and people who just want to sap up welfare or move their life of crime into America. It's harsh to say, for sure, but the fact is that when no one is vetted and everyone is just allowed in, it's impossible to say who's who and what they want to accomplish here. This is why the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, says that he's going to load all of these migrants onto buses and send them to Washington DC.
Whether or not this is lip service or something the Governor is truly pushing for remains to be seen. All that can be said to date is a majority of Texans are against immigration and have voted for years to secure the border. And at every single step along the way, the federal government has over-stepped the wishes of Texans and has done more to allow immigration to flow through the state. So, however you may feel about the situation, democracy means that if Texans do not want to deal with such a flood of immigrants, they should not have to. Abbott claims he's stepping up to help his state.
A Lot of Outrage is Sparked
As can be expected, critics have already started the process of smearing this proposal as horribly racist, fascist, etc; all the usual tricks are being pulled to try to stop this. The issue here, however, is that Gov. Abbott isn't doing anything new or unprecedented here. Since the Obama administration, it has been government policy to load up charter buses with migrants and just ship them into various cities of the government's choosing. The people in Minnesota found this out in the mid 2000s, and now they have districts that are majority Somalian, as Obama's efforts saw tens of thousands of immigrants shipped into towns that never asked for them, but more importantly were not allowed to say no to them.
This is something that's also continuing under President Biden. Immigrants are loaded onto buses and are just dropped off in random towns and cities and processing centers, where they're given temporary housing, government debit cards, etc. The people who live in these towns and cities do not get a vote. They cannot call their representative to stop it. It comes straight from the Executive powers of the American President, and so immigrants are bused all over the country, wherever the Democratic Party wants them to go.
In essence, Gov. Abbott is just doing what America's Presidents have done. The difference here, of course, is that Abbott is a Republican, so the mainstream press must decry his move as some sort of Hitler 2.0. The fact is that as you're reading this article, there's a bus dropping off dozens of immigrants into some random town right now, whose citizens are forced to just look and wonder what's happening, while not being allowed to stop it. So Abbott's plan is to send all new arrivals to Washington DC, to see how the elite political class likes it.
The Morality of Forced Acceptance
A lot has been said about the immorality of Abbott. "Kidnapping," people have called it. Dozens of popular messages on Twitter calling Abbott a monster who's going to "uproot the lives of good people" who have already settled into America. To be clear, this is not what Gov. Abbott is proposing at all. According to Abbott, this proposed measure is just for people who are crossing the border. It's not as if immigration has stopped and Abbott is going after those already settled in Texas. Tens of thousands of people flood across the border every single day in Texas, and Abbott is proposing sending them all to DC in order to be processed and to settle down.
The irony in the criticism is that the people who scream the loudest about America needing open borders and to accept immigrants all live in locations where they are allowed to vote to keep immigrants out. It has been news for years that the high-profile Democrats telling you that you need to accept immigrants actually vote to keep them out of their schools and neighborhoods. So when Biden sends the buses out, they're only going to Republican districts. Democrats actually have a say.
According to Gov. Abbott, all he wants is some reprieve from the thousands crossing his border daily.
