The West's Truth about Immigration

Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine with his Russian forces nearly two weeks ago now, and most estimates have the number of displaced refugees from Ukraine at over 2 million people. Tanks, machine guns, artillery fire; it's a legitimate war being waged on the innocent Ukrainian people. Whatever geopolitical chess pieces moved around prior to the invasion, none of that matters to the millions of people being chased out of their nation by invading forces. In a world with so many economic migrants and refugees already, it pains most people and genuinely hurts to see millions more suffering and displaced. What makes this situation even worse to some is that a few countries whose motto of "everyone is welcome" over the past few years have suddenly decided that Ukrainian refugees doesn't exactly fit the bill of the type of person they want in their country.
America, for instance, and chief among the supposed tolerant refuge for migrants, has seemingly turned its back entirely on Ukrainian refugees. The irony, of course, is the fact that America has spent tens of billions of dollars since 2014 fomenting regime change in Ukraine. That is in no way an excuse for Russia's grotesque actions. Putin invaded a sovereign nation and is now an international war criminal. This is about the nations that have stuck their nose in this conflict for years now ignoring the suffering people who are fleeing Ukraine in droves.
To date, America has made no efforts to resettle these innocent people, though the country is still dealing with an open southern border with thousands of people pouring over it every day. Other western nations like Canada and the UK are also doing very little to accept Ukrainians in their borders, while simultaneously accepting as many Middle Eastern and African refugees that can show up.
Ukrainians Meet the Definition Better
The definition of "refugee" is something that has been shouted to the American people for years now, as well as people in other western nations. Everyone is told that people who are displaced from their nations and fleeing violence are the definition of refugees. In the world today, no one fits this bill better than Ukrainians. This is especially true considering the fact that the overwhelming majority of these refugees are women and children. With Central and South Americans, and a lot of African and Middle Eastern immigrants, the corporate news media claim that they're women in children, while roughly 90% of them are young adult, able-bodied men. In Ukraine, the able-bodied men were forced to stay behind and fight Russian invaders, and so the bulk of people fleeing are women and children.
The Eastern Bloc Feds for Itself
The vast majority of refugees from Ukraine are going to neighboring nations like Poland and Romania. Basically, the Eastern Bloc is now fending for itself, after years of western involvement, specifically from America and NATO, which played more than a small role in this crisis.
America Isn't Against Immigration at All
During President Joe Biden's first State of the Union address, he used the opportunity to ensure the critics of his immigration policy that America is about to crack down on immigrants crossing our border. Little did anyone know at the time that he seemingly meant that America would be refusing Ukrainian refugees while still openly accepting not only Central and South American immigrants who cross our borders on food, but also Afghani refugees who are still being flown in by America on the taxpayers' dime.
It's unclear as of yet if America will change its policies and start showing the same hospitality to Ukrainian refugees that they've shown to others. Other western nations like Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and others are still very slow to accept any refugees from the current war in the Eastern Bloc. According to updated sources, the UK has taken in a grand total of 50 Ukrainians. In that same two-week window, the UK has taken in over 2,000 African refugees. People are starting to ask serious questions about the pick and choose nature of accepting refugees by western nations.
No matter where you might stand on the conflict, the fact is that over 2 million innocent Ukrainians, mostly women and children, have been chased out of their homeland by Putin's Russian invasion. If the west isn't willing to open their doors to these people, many ask what business they have allowing anyone else in merely for claiming economic disadvantage.
